Israel, U.S. Meet to Discuss Counterterrorism Cooperation

(Communicated by the MFA Spokesman)

Mr. Shai Cohen, the director of the Department for Regional Security and Counterterrorism in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted an American delegation which came to Israel from November 18 to 20 as part of the United States and Israel’s ongoing security cooperation. The U.S. delegation, headed by White House Director for Counterterrorism Mary Gingrich, was comprised of representatives from the U.S. Departments of State, Treasury, and Justice.

The parties discussed the latest developments in the region, including ongoing threats posed by terrorism. The US delegation was also invited to observe security measures deployed for the protection of civilians from terrorist attacks, including the Iron Dome defense system, which receives U.S. financial support.

This exchange between Israeli and U.S. experts reflects the close cooperation between the United States and Israel. Both sides agreed that the U.S. and Israel would continue to consult closely on common challenges and items of shared interest in the near future.
