CDS Thanks President Trump for Strikes Against Assad
Regime in Response to Chemical Weapons Attack on
Civilians
Washington, DC - The Coalition for a Democratic
Syria (CDS) -- a multi-ethnic, multi-sectarian coalition of
six Syrian American advocacy organizations representing the
Syrian American community including Syrian Christians for
Peace, Syrian Emergency Task Force, Syrian American Council,
United for a Free Syria, American Syriac Union, and the
Association of a Free Syrians -- expresses its sincere
gratitude for President Donald Trump's decisive strikes
against the Assad regime in response to its massacre of
civilians with chemical weapons.
In the words of
President Trump, "Assad choked out the helpless with slow
and painful death with so many, even babies, no child of God
should ever have to deal with something like this."
We
welcome the comments of President Trump and Sec. of State
Tillerson calling for the international community to come
together to stop the killing in Syria and remove the Assad
regime.
"I want to thank you for what you've done for the
American people you make us proud to be your fellow
Americans for your forceful moral leadership," said Mouaz
Moustafa, SETF Executive Director and Policy Advisor for
CDS.
In ending this era of global inaction, this decisive move has given the Syrian people a rare gift—hope.
