Euro-Med monitors the escalation of Israeli violations
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights on Monday issued a report documenting Israeli violations of the Palestinian population in Jerusalem in February 2019. The report also highlighted the apparent escalation in illegal Israeli practices against the Palestinian population, such as the arbitrary removal of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the detention of houses. As well as the violation of the right of Palestinians to worship and to practice religious rites and the grave violations of the legal status of the Holy City and the rights of the Palestinian population there.
The Euro-Mediterranean said in his report, titled "Israel is continuing to restrict the right to freedom of worship for Muslims in Jerusalem" that February witnessed an affirmation of deliberate Israeli policies against Palestinians in Jerusalem. The report monitors cases of arbitrary arrests by the authorities against them under vague pretexts and cases of house raids, arresting some of them without warrants of arrest or search, and policies of restrictions of freedoms and prevent them by all means of practicing their religious, social and political activities.
The report highlighted in particular the events that took place in Bab al-Rahma east of al-Aqsa Mosque, and the accompanying attacks on worshipers and restrictions on their religious freedom. The report documented the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli authorities for 12 hours, and presented testimonies and photographs of dozens of worshipers who had been assaulted, detained and deported because of their participation in the events. The Euro-Med added.
The Euro-Med explained that the Israeli authorities continue to practice harsh arbitrary policies against the Palestinians in the city of Jerusalem with regard to their homes and homes, seeking to displace them by refraining from issuing building permits and demolishing their homes and shops.
The report monitors the continuation of demolition orders by the Israeli municipality in Jerusalem in February 2019 and the implementation of demolition orders for several Palestinian-owned properties in East Jerusalem under the pretext of building without legal permits. The campaign included the demolition of houses in the towns of Beit Hanina, Jabal Mukaber ", and others.
The Israeli actions
against the Palestinian population in Jerusalem violate
their rights to live in dignity and to violate their civil,
political and religious rights and to violate international
laws prohibiting such violations.
The Euro-Med called on
the international community to shoulder its responsibilities
towards Jerusalem and its Palestinian population, protect
them as residents of an occupied area under Security Council
and General Assembly resolutions, and call for immediate
steps to protect the legal status of the Holy City and to
consider Israeli practices and procedures in the city are
arbitrary and void.
