All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The
Situation: An anticyclone centred over the eastern Tasman
Sea is drifting northeast and extends a ridge towards
northern
and central areas of the country. A weak cold
front is expected
to affect southern and eastern parts
of the South Island today
before moving out toward the
Chatham Islands. A new high cell
should spread onto the
far south later today.
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL
PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO,
TAUMARANUI, TAUPO, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI,
MANAWATU, GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA, WELLINGTON,
NELSON and
MARLBOROUGH: Continuing fine again in most
places with frosts this
morning south of Auckland. Also
a few early fog patches. The odd
light shower at first
about eastern Northland. Expect cloudy areas
today in
the west from Taranaki to Wellington. Generally light
winds but breezy northerlies about Cook
Strait.
CANTERBURY: Fine and frosty for much of the day
with light winds
inland and northeasterlies about the
coast. A southwest change may
spread cloud and light
showers to places south of Banks Peninsula
this
evening.
BULLER and WESTLAND: Cloudy with drizzle patches
developing south
of Hokitika. Light
breezes.
FIORDLAND: Rain at times with west to southwest winds.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Cloud increasing with patchy
rain spreading to
most places for a time. Westerlies
turning southwest from afternoon.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cloudy
skies. A few light showers turning to rain
this
afternoon. Westerlies turning southwest towards
evening.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Mainly fine over much
of the North Island
but cloudy at times in the west from
Taranaki south and about the
east coast with a few
drizzle patches early on. For the South
Island skies
rather cloudy with drizzle about the west coast and
in
the east from Canterbury to Otago, also over Southland. At
the
Chathams, showers slowly clearing.
