All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The
Situation: A large complex area of low pressure covering
much
of the Tasman Sea and New Zealand is drifting very
slowly southeast.
To the south and southeast of the
country a ridge is also slow
moving and is
weakening.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA and BAY
of PLENTY/ROTORUA:
A mix of cloudy and fine periods with
a few showers. Showers are
expected to become heavier
and more widespread from this afternoon.
North to
northwest winds.
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI,
TAUPO, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI
and MANAWATU: A cloudy day with
further outbreaks of rain or showers
in most places.
East to northeast winds.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and
WAIRARAPA: Cloudy at times with patchy rain
gradually
becoming confined to the main ranges. North to northeast
winds.
WELLINGTON: Rain easing to just the odd light
shower or two this
morning. A few fine periods
developing. Light winds mainly southeast.
NELSON: Cloudy skies with outbreaks of rain. Northeast winds.
BULLER,
WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: High cloud, a few outbreaks of rain
about Buller and northern Westland. Light winds, mainly
northeasterly.
MARLBOROUGH, CANTERBURY and OTAGO: Dull
with drizzly rain, especially
about the coast and Banks
Peninsula. Rain is expected to become more
extensive and
heavier this afternoon about the eastern hills with
snow
above 1500 metres. East to northeast winds.
SOUTHLAND:
Mostly cloudy with brief rain from this afternoon.
Easterly quarter winds to blow.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cloud
thickening with outbreaks of rain from this
afternoon.
Freshening east to northeast winds.
THE OUTLOOK FOR
TOMORROW: Low pressure still dominates the country
and
the Chathams with rain or showers continuing in many places.
