Weather Workshop: All Districts forecast for NZ

Now the All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:

The Situation: A low over the Chatham Islands is slow moving. A southerly flow will remain over the country today. A high in the Tasman Sea is pushing a weak ridge onto the lower South Island.

And now the forecast to midnight tonight:

NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, TAUPO, WANGANUI and MANAWATU: Showers easing today with snow expected to 900 metres about the central plateau which includes the Desert Road. Southwest winds. Becoming mainly fine in Bay of Plenty by this evening.

GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Showery with cold southerlies. Snow lowering about the ranges.

WELLINGTON: Showery and cold. Snow lowering to 500 metres this morning about the ranges which includes the Rimutaka Hill road. Southerly winds gusty in exposed places.

NELSON: Brief rain or showers clearing this morning then fine and frosty. Southwest winds.

MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: Showery today with snow to 400 metres in the ranges. Southerly winds. Fine breaks increasing from afternoon.

BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine and frosty with light winds.

OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Becoming fine inland today. About the coast showers slowly easing then clearing after dark. Becoming very frosty tonight. Southerly winds easing.

CHATHAM ISLANDS: Outbreaks of rain and northeast winds turning southeast later.

THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Continuing showery in the east from Gisborne to North Canterbury. Becoming mainly fine elsewhere. At the Chathams, Wintry showers with cold southerlies.
