All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The
Situation: A ridge of high pressure over the South Island is
expected to drift onto the south of the North Island
during the day. A southeast flow continues to weaken over
North
Island areas.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of
PLENTY, ROTORUA,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI,
TAIHAPE and TAUPO: A mainly
fine day ahead. Areas of
cloud and remaining light showers clearing
this morning
from the central high country and main eastern ranges.
South to southeast breezes.
WANGANUI and MANAWATU:
Morning cloud and a few light showers about
the ranges
gradually clearing to become fine. Southeast winds dying
out.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Cloudy again
in most places with
light showers persisting. South to
southeast winds.
WELLINGTON: Light showers becoming
confined to the eastern hills this
afternoon. Elsewhere
fine spells increasing. Southerly winds slowly
dying
out.
NELSON, BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND: Fine and
frosty with light
winds in most areas. Cloud increasing
after dark about the fiords
with drizzle patches
developing.
MARLBOROUGH: Fine and frosty inland with
light winds. About the coast
and sounds cloud and light
drizzly showers continuing but fine
periods increasing.
Southerly breezes there.
CANTERBURY: Becoming fine inland
this morning. About the coast cloudy
with drizzle areas
persisting. Not much wind.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly fine and frosty. Light winds.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cold showery southeasterly conditions continuing.
THE OUTLOOK
FOR TOMORROW: A weak ridge should persist over North
Island areas with mainly fine weather but in the east
light showers
are likely to continue. Cloud increasing
along the west coast of
the South Island and about
Southland with a few drizzle areas.
Also drizzle patches
expected about the Canterbury coast. Other
South Island
should remain fine. At the Chatham Islands, showers
gradually becoming few and far between.
