All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The
Situation: A trough northeast of the Chatham Islands is
slowly
drifting east and filling. Pressures are rising
over the Tasman Sea
as a large anticyclone moves closer
to the country. The high should
spread a ridge onto the
southern South Island today as a southerly
flow weakens
over North Island areas.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, WAITOMO,
TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI,
TAIHAPE, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY
of PLENTY/ROTORUA, TAUPO,
WANGANUI and MANAWATU: A
mainly fine sunny day ahead. Cloudy
periods at first
this morning about Wanganui and Manawatu.
Southerly
winds should die out in most places as the day goes
on.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Cloudy conditions
continuing
with light showers persisting, especially
near the coast. Fine
periods should increase during the
day from Napier south. Cold
again in the wind with
southerlies easing.
WELLINGTON: Fine periods on the
increase but still a few light
persistent showers
likely. The chill remains today but with
southerlies
slowly easing.
NELSON, BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND:
Fine bright and sunny
with light winds. Frosty again
tonight.
MARLBOROUGH: Showers should slowly clear from the
Kaikoura Coast
but skies are likely to remain quite
cloudy. About inland areas
mostly fine and frosty.
Southerly breezes.
CANTERBURY: Mostly fine and frosty
inland today. In coastal
places drizzly showers clearing
this afternoon with fine periods
increasing. South to
southwest winds, breezy about the coast and
Banks
Peninsula, inland winds mainly light.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND:
A few light showers about the south coast
and Stewart
Island clearing, elsewhere mainly fine and
frosty.
Southwest winds dying out.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: A showery day with southeast winds freshening.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW:
Fine in most places. Remaining showers
clearing from the
east of the North Island. At the Chathams,
showers
clearing and fine periods becoming more frequent.
