All Districts forecast from Weather Workshop:
The
Situation: An anticyclone is spreading onto the country from
the Tasman Sea today and a low northeast of the Chatham
Islands
is finally moving away.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO,
WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI,
TAIHAPE, COROMANDEL
PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA, TAUPO,
WANGANUI and
MANAWATU: A fine day in most places although cloudy
areas likely morning and night. Light winds. Frosty
again tonight,
especially south of Auckland
city.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY and WAIRARAPA: Showers becoming
confined to
the coast during the day with fine periods
increasing inland.
South to southwest dying out this
evening.
WELLINGTON: The odd light shower until this
afternoon, chiefly
about the eastern hills, otherwise
fine and cool. Southerlies
dying out this evening and
frosty tonight.
NELSON, BULLER, WESTLAND and FIORDLAND:
Fine bright and sunny
in most areas with light winds.
Cloud building this afternoon
over the southern fiords.
Mostly light winds. Frosts again
tonight except in the
far south.
MARLBOROUGH and CANTERBURY: North of Banks
Peninsula, remaining
cloud and the odd drizzle patch
clearing this morning otherwise
fine and frosty.
Generally light breezes. Southerlies north of
Kaikoura
dying out this afternoon.
OTAGO and SOUTHLAND: Mainly
fine, frosty conditions. A few areas
of cloud though
about the south coast and Stewart Island.
Northwesterlies in the far south otherwise winds
light.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Showers becoming few and far
between as the day
goes on but skies still quite cloudy.
Southeasterlies easing
further and tending southwest
tonight.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: Anticyclonic conditions
are expected
to continue over the country with fine
weather. Cloudy periods
are likely though over the upper
North Island and in the far
south and about Stewart
Island. At the Chathams, a mix of
cloudy and fine
periods.
