The
Situation: A fast moving cold front should sweep the country
today and should clear the upper North Island tonight.
Pressures
remain high over the Tasman Sea with a new
cell having formed at
higher latitudes.
And now the forecast to midnight tonight:
NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND,
COROMANDEL PENINSULA, BAY of PLENTY/ROTORUA,
TAUPO,
WAIKATO, WAITOMO, TAUMARANUI, TARANAKI, TAIHAPE, WANGANUI
MANAWATU: The odd shower at first in the west otherwise
fine.
Showers and southerlies spreading to most places
briefly then
clearing from the south towards
evening.
GISBORNE, HAWKES BAY, WAIRARAPA and WELLINGTON:
Showers and colder
southerlies working north from
morning reaching northern Gisborne
by evening. Skies
clearing about Wellington and Wairarapa later
this
afternoon and further north tonight.
NELSON: A period of
brief showers this morning then becoming fine
and frosty
again. Southwesterlies.
MARLBOROUGH: Showers and
southerlies spreading north then a
clearance from the
south during the afternoon.
BULLER, WESTLAND and
FIORDLAND: Rain or showers in most places for
a time
then becoming fine and frosty. South to southwest winds
dying out from evening.
CANTERBURY: Showers becoming
confined to the coast this afternoon
with clearing skies
inland. Becoming fine about the coast by
evening.
Southwesterlies tending northeast tonight.
OTAGO and
SOUTHLAND: Showers retreating to the coast this
morning
then fine and frosty everywhere tonight.
Southwesterlies dying out.
CHATHAM ISLANDS: Cold and
showery with frequent showers. Some
hail also. Strong
and gusty southwesterlies.
THE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW: A mix
of fine and cloudy periods in
many areas with early
showers clearing from Gisborne. The west
of the South
Island sees an increase in cloud with rain
developing.
At the Chatham's showers clearing but remaining
cloudy.
